Is there a limit to how old a donor
for this procedure could be?
Animal data would suggest that the ability to harvest neural
precursors does not vary with the age of the subject. Indeed,
the first demonstration of neural precursors in humans was
done in older patients. It is not known, however, whether
the essential nature of these cells taken from different ages
is different, e.g. whether their ability to expand is different.
These studies are also ongoing.
